What a day!
16th July 2008

It’s been an action packed day today! I was asked to teach a group of 12 from a local children’s hospice several weeks ago. The Wild Food course started at 9:30am today, but 4 miles from my destination the car broke down! I was left with no option but to run 4 miles in 30 minutes around quite busy back roads with no pathways. I can certainly recommend this activity for those of you who need a morning cuppa to get into second gear, quite refreshing to say the least!

Anyway, after several jumps into ditches to avoided F1 wannabes I made it with only 2 minutes to spare, not bad for someone with a dodgy ankle!

The course started out like any other, with the safety/day plan, and then the hunt for wild foods began, but before moving onto rare wild foods I wanted to show my students how to make some fishing line from stinging nettles without getting stung. I think this went down quite well, but usually something I hold back for a full day course rather than those that last for only a few hours.

The rain held off until the end of the day, but looked gloomy for most of it to be honest, but I would much rather this than the intense heat we have had for the last few days.

Also, on an unrelated note, you will notice that the site has had a few more updates, such as a few new pictures, some new banners, and one more wild food. I will continue to add extra features in the following weeks.

Hopefully a picture of the day will follow soon!

Catch you on the trail.

Kris
